DIY- Place Cards

27 Feb

I can’t get over what a great idea these place cards I found via Luxefinds. These would be so easy to recreate, with a stencil and some chalk paint you have a cute different way to display your guest’s names. I will be using this idea at my next dinner party.

Heirloom Veils

21 Feb

For a few short years veils seemed to be disappearing from the covers of wedding magazines, but now I feel like they are back and better than ever! I have found the most incredible site called twigs and honey, that have some of the most beautiful wedding head pieces. As an added bonus they are all reasonably priced. I have put together a few of my favorite’s, these could become heirloom’s in any family.

Secret Garden Wedding

19 Feb

Today in Connecticut the weather was absolutely stunning for February. The birds were chirping and everyone was out enjoying the sunshine. I was able to capture this quick photo in between Sunday strollers. Looking at the picture you would never guess it’s the middle of winter in the northeast.

Today was one of those days where you felt that spring was right around the corner. It made me think that warmer days are on their way and how soon my surroundings will be green and lush. In honor of today’s weather I put together a secret garden inspiration board. If you are getting married in spring I couldn’t think of anything better than a secret garden themed wedding. It is always breath-taking and has an air of mystery about the whole affair.

Inspiration: Bride, Table, Flowers, Cake.

Mardi Gras

19 Feb

Mardi Gras is right around the corner and even though I have never been to New Orleans during the parade I have visited the historic french quarter at another time during the year and it’s still a wild party! So if you plan on hosting a Mardi Gras party this year here is a little inspiration to point you in the right direction.

Sugar Buzz- Candy Tables 101

18 Feb

There is nothing I love more than a perfectly put together candy table. Whether it be for a birthday party, wedding, or holiday party your guests are going to be making multiple trips up to the confectionary wonderland. Here are a few helpful hints on how to build a jaw dropping candy display:

  • Color- Stick to a color theme, choose two or three colors and get all the candy in the corresponding colors.
  • Candy Jars- Containers are key, think outside of the box, try going to thrift stores to find vintage candy jars or different ways to display the candy.
  • Volume and Height- Make sure to elevate some of the candy jars it will give your display some depth and will make it eye-catching.

Here are a few that got it right!

DIY-Table Cloth

17 Feb

Happy weekend everyone! I wanted to start this weekend by posting one of the coolest table-cloth’s I have ever seen. What I love most about this idea is you can pick any color scheme to match the party you are throwing. This would be especially cute for a children’s birthday party.

Winter Wonderland

11 Feb

I am visiting family in Indiana and I had the pleasure of waking up to a white, snowy wonderland. I love it when it snows over-night and you wake up to the world around you transformed. Even though it’s a Saturday it still feels like I am a kid again and it’s a snow day.

So on my day off I have compiled some of my favorite snow shots. I love winter engagement sessions, even though most couples gravitate toward other seasons, I think a snowy landscape is the perfect backdrop to highlight you as a couple. When planning an engagement session try to do a season opposite the one you are getting married in, that way you have a variety of photos to choose from.

Here are some absolutely stunning winter engagement sessions:

Valentines Day Treats for your Sweets

8 Feb

It’s all about the pink this week, with Valentines Day right around the corner here are some really sweet ideas for anyone in your life.

Raspberry sorbet dessert: This is a healthier dessert alternative that would be the perfect end to any dinner. Ingredients are raspberry sorbet, chocolate syrup, or substitute in dark chocolate shavings, and top it off with fresh raspberries.

Sweet Tray: If you are throwing a Valentines Day party or just want to impress your family, this is a cute way to display snack food. This arrangement could be easily swapped with a veggie display instead.

Cupcake Display: Sometimes it’s more about the presentation then the food itself. I love arranging anything on a cake tray, it really allows you to show off your confection. The colored flags are a perfect way to tie your color theme together or just add for a little more fun!

Here are some other pretty pink inspirations for your Valentines Day.

Brrr it’s cold, warm up with these destination wedding ideas.

5 Feb

In the middle of winter it’s hard not to think about warm sandy beaches, cloudless blue skies, and crystal clear water. A destination wedding is a great way to escape the cold. Warm weather isn’t the only bonus about having a destination wedding, they are cheaper than you would think and usually are less than a traditional wedding. If you feel overwhelmed by the idea of planning a wedding then destination might be the route to take, most resorts have all-inclusive packages that have everything included, so all you have to do it sit back and soak in the rays. Gift Wrapping Ideas

3 Feb

So if you couldn’t tell by my last post I love the fringey crepe paper streamers, I just can’t get enough of them. I was in the middle of wrapping a baby gift for a friend when I thought maybe I could find yet another use for these pretty little things. Since giving gifts and parties usually go hand in hand I thought this would be a fun post. Here are just a few photos of how the crepe paper brightened up my gift giving.

I like simple packaging dressed up with a bit of color. I found the brown paper mache box at A.C Moore and the rest is history! Here are a few other ideas of how a little color adds to the gift wrapping.
